Ukraine Strikes Sasta Munitions Plant in Ryazan, Yandex Data Center Fire Reported

Ukraine struck the Sasta machine-tool plant in Sasovo, Ryazan oblast on the night of October 8. The facility manufactures CNC machines and precision equipment for Russia's defence-industrial complex and is under international sanctions imposed by the EU, UK, US and Canada.

Yandex Data Centre on Site

A Yandex data centre located on the factory premises caught fire following the strike. Yandex acknowledged a partial outage in Yandex Cloud services; engineers rerouted traffic within hours. The proximity of the data centre to a sanctioned munitions supplier drew immediate attention.

Strategic Significance

Sasta's CNC machines supply production lines making artillery shells, missile components and armoured vehicle parts. Western sanctions had restricted the plant's access to imported tooling, but Russian sources indicate production continued using domestically substituted components.
