Russia Strikes Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia Train: Fire Breaks Out, Conductor Missing

Russian occupying forces struck a regional passenger train on the Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia route, setting a carriage ablaze. One conductor is unaccounted for after apparently returning to the train against evacuation orders, Ukrzaliznytsia head Oleksandr Pertsovskyi said.

Pertsovskyi wrote: 'Terror against passenger trains continues. This time on the Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia route. A precise hit on a regional train.'

He added that during threat monitoring, the train was stopped early and passengers moved to a mobile shelter, with no passenger casualties. He also published video of a train carriage engulfed in flames.

'Contact has not yet been established with one of the conductors. We have testimony that she returned to the train despite the ongoing evacuation and the announced heightened danger. Rescue operations continue,' Pertsovskyi added, warning that remaining in or near rolling stock 'has fatal consequences'.

Buses were being organised with local administrations to transport passengers. This was the second train attack on the morning of September 8, following the earlier strike on the Kyiv-Sumy train in Sumy region.
