Russia Strikes Ukraine with Ballistic Missiles: Two Killed in Kyiv, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia Also Hit
In the early hours of Wednesday, October 7, Russia launched one of its most complex combined assaults on Ukraine, deploying ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and attack drones simultaneously across multiple regions. Ukrainian Air Forces had warned shortly after midnight that nine strategic bombers — including Tu-160 aircraft from the Belaya airfield and Tu-95s from Olenegorsk — had taken off from Russian territory.
Kyiv struck in three districts
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed missile impacts in three city districts: Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Podilskyi. In the first two districts, strikes hit non-residential properties; in Podilskyi, a warehouse complex was damaged. Debris from intercepted missiles fell on open ground and a garage cooperative in Darnytskyi district, killing two people.
Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia also targeted
An industrial enterprise in Dnipro was struck during the attack, according to regional military administration head Oleksandr Hanzha. Zaporizhzhia's transport infrastructure was also damaged. Ukrainian Air Forces tracked cruise missiles heading toward Kirovograd and Poltava regions in central Ukraine as the assault unfolded in waves through the night.
Authorities urged residents nationwide to take shelter and not ignore air raid warnings during the ongoing attack.
