On March 30, Russian forces launched an aerial assault on the central district of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region, utilizing guided aerial bombs. The bombardment resulted in injuries to a 42-year-old civilian and inflicted significant damage on civilian infrastructure, including the region's sole functioning maternity hospital.

Details of the Attack

According to Vadym Liakh, the head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, the strike occurred at approximately 11:50 local time. The precision-guided munitions targeted the heart of the city, leaving a trail of destruction.

The 42-year-old man who sustained injuries during the assault is currently receiving necessary medical treatment.

Widespread Infrastructure Damage

The devastating attack compromised numerous civilian structures. Local authorities report the following destruction:

  • An educational institution and a local shop were completely destroyed.
  • Several private residences and multi-story apartment buildings sustained structural damage.
  • Various government and state institutions were also impacted by the blast waves.

Maternity Hospital Spared from Tragedy

One of the most concerning aspects of the strike was the damage inflicted on the only maternity ward still operating in the Donetsk region. Despite the severity of the blast, a potential tragedy was averted.

"Among the damaged buildings is the only maternity hospital in the Donetsk region," Liakh stated. "Fortunately, neither the little ones, nor the women in labor, nor the medical staff of the institution were injured."
