Russian Attack Sets Kyiv Apartment Building on Fire
On the evening of October 7, a Russian attack triggered a fire on the 10th floor of a 12-story residential building in the Desniankyi district of Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Broader Attack on Kyiv
The fire was part of a wider Russian aerial assault on the Ukrainian capital that evening. Earlier in the day, the same attack killed one man in Kyiv, injured eight people in the Solomianskyi district, and a woman's body was found near a burning car at a location where drone debris had fallen on Obolon. The multiple incidents underscored the scale and destructive reach of the assault across different city districts.
Ukrainian air defense forces were active throughout the attack, working to intercept incoming missiles and drones. Kyiv residents were urged to remain in shelters until the all-clear signal. First responders quickly arrived at the Desniankyi building to contain the blaze and ensure no one was trapped inside.
