Russian Drone Hits Kyiv Preschool Building in Obolon District

1 min read

A Russian drone struck a two-story preschool building in Kyiv's Obolon district on the evening of September 25, causing a fire, Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko announced on Telegram.

What Happened

According to Klitschko, the unmanned aerial vehicle fell on a building described as a preschool educational institution. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze.

The attack on the kindergarten building is part of a broader wave of Russian drone strikes on the Ukrainian capital that day. Russian forces launched attacks on Kyiv throughout September 25, killing seven people and injuring 59 others — including children — while damaging residential buildings and infrastructure across the city.

Pattern of Attacks on Civilian Infrastructure

This strike follows another drone attack earlier in the evening, when a Russian UAV hit the Ivankiv Lyceum No. 2 in the Vyshhorod district of Kyiv Oblast, setting fire to the building and burning more than 300 square meters. No students were present at the time of either attack.

Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 162 strike drones of various types at Ukraine on September 25, including 76 reactive drones. Air defense systems shot down or suppressed 127 of them, with impacts recorded in 27 locations across the country.
