Russian drone kills DTEK energy worker in Odessa region, 3 others wounded

1 min read

A Russian drone targeted a vehicle belonging to DTEK Odessa Energy Networks on September 25, killing one energy worker and wounding three others. The Odessa Oblast Military Administration head Oleg Kiper reported that after an air raid alert was announced, the workers' vehicle moved away from the substation — but the Russian drone changed its course and attacked the car.

Deliberate targeting of energy workers

"The enemy brazenly attacked a DTEK Odessa Energy Networks vehicle. One energy worker was killed, another was wounded," Kiper stated. Rescue workers were able to extinguish the resulting fire. The attack demonstrates that Russian forces are deliberately targeting energy infrastructure workers attempting to maintain power supply during raids.

Wider attacks across Odessa region

The strike on the DTEK vehicle was part of broader Russian attacks on Odessa Oblast on September 25. Earlier that morning, two people were killed and two wounded in other strikes on the region. Russian forces conducted mass attacks against civilian and critical infrastructure throughout the day.
