Russian Drone Strike Kills 37 Near Kyiv in Bucha Warehouse Attack

A Russian drone attack late Friday night struck a warehouse in the Bucha district near Kyiv, triggering a massive explosion that killed at least 37 people, Ukrainian officials reported. The warehouse reportedly stored ammunition, and the blast damaged surrounding residential buildings and a nursing home in the area.

Zelensky Demands Accountability

President Volodymyr Zelensky posted on X that ammunition must never be stored near residential areas and vowed that those responsible for the decision would be held accountable. Criminal proceedings have been opened on suspicion of official negligence. More than 300 rescue workers were dispatched to the scene, and nearly 400 residents were evacuated to safety.

Mutual Strikes Continue

While Russia hit targets near Kyiv, Ukraine launched its own strikes against Russian territory. In the Belgorod border region of southwestern Russia, three people were killed and 14 wounded in Ukrainian attacks, according to local officials. Ukrainian forces used drones, rocket launchers, and artillery. At least one person was also killed in Ukrainian drone strikes on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula.

Russia's Defense Ministry claimed its forces captured the village of Khrapivshchyna in Ukraine's Sumy region and the villages of Novoandriivka and Rubizhne in the Donetsk region. Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for over four and a half years with Western support.
