1 min read

A Russian drone crossed into Moldovan airspace during the night, with wreckage subsequently found near a village in southern Moldova close to the border with Ukraine's Odessa region. No casualties were reported.

Diplomatic response

Moldova's Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador and lodged a formal diplomatic protest, describing the airspace violation as unacceptable. This is not the first such incident: Russian drones targeting Ukraine have previously strayed into Moldovan territory on several occasions.

Security concerns

The incident highlights ongoing security concerns for Moldova, which borders Ukraine and has faced increased air incidents since the full-scale Russian invasion. Moldova is not a NATO member but has applied for EU membership.
