Russian drone strikes on Zvyahel in Zhytomyr region on Saturday killed two people when a drone hit a grocery store, local authorities confirmed. The attack was part of a series of strikes across the region throughout the day.

Zhytomyr regional military administration head Vitaliy Bunechko said overnight drones had hit a foreign-invested enterprise, while morning attacks struck a petrol station in Zvyahel and two more in Korosten without causing casualties. The grocery store attack came later in the day and proved fatal.

Escalating Strikes on Civilian Infrastructure

"Two people were killed" in the grocery store strike, Bunechko confirmed in a statement. The attacks followed a pattern of Russian drones targeting civilian and commercial infrastructure in the Zhytomyr region, which lies in central Ukraine and does not border the front line.

The strikes demonstrate that drone attacks continue to reach deep into Ukrainian territory, hitting civilian objects far from the active combat zone. Police were dispatched to document the aftermath and gather evidence of war crimes.
