Russian drones struck Zaporizhzhia's electricity infrastructure on the morning of September 15, killing one worker and wounding four others in attacks on the city's power grid. Acting head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Mykhailo Semkin confirmed the fatality.

Casualties and damage

Andrii Stasevskyi, head of Zaporizhzhyaoblenergo, confirmed that one of his company's employees was killed and a female colleague was seriously injured and hospitalised. The State Emergency Service later updated the casualty count, saying four women sustained blast injuries and are receiving medical assistance.

Russian drones also ignited a fire at a power infrastructure facility, which responders subsequently brought under control. Part of Zaporizhzhia was left without electricity as a result of the attack.

Broader Russian strikes on September 15

The assault on Zaporizhzhia was part of a wider wave of Russian drone attacks across Ukraine on the same morning. Kyiv was also targeted, with at least one fatality reported in the capital. As Russia continued to strike Ukrainian energy infrastructure, Ukrainian forces responded overnight with long-range strikes on Russian oil and military facilities.
