A Russian FPV drone struck a passenger bus in the Kosmichnyi district of Zaporizhzhia on September 17, injuring five civilians. The attack occurred near a public transport stop while passengers were aboard.
Acting Governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast Mykhailo Semykin reported the attack: "The enemy attacked with an FPV drone a passenger bus in the Kosmichnyi district. There were people inside. The drone struck right next to the public transport stop." Initially three people were reported wounded; this figure later rose to five, all of whom were hospitalized. One victim remains in serious condition.
Russian forces have increasingly targeted civilian infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia, a front-line city that has been under regular attack since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. FPV (first-person view) drones have become a frequent weapon used against soft civilian targets.
