Russian forces launched guided aerial bomb (KAB) strikes on the Kovpakivskyi and Zarichnyi districts of the Ukrainian city of Sumy on September 16, injuring six people. Among the victims is a 14-year-old girl, according to Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov and acting city mayor Artem Kobzar.

Civilian Areas Targeted

The attack struck residential areas of two central Sumy districts. Rescue and medical teams were dispatched to the scene immediately after the strike. Officials confirmed that six civilians sustained injuries requiring medical attention.

Sumy Oblast regularly comes under Russian bombardment due to its proximity to the Russian border, making it one of the most vulnerable Ukrainian regions. Guided aerial bombs are among the most destructive weapon types Russia deploys against Ukrainian cities.
