Russians Mass Attack Kharkiv: Building Entrance Destroyed, 7 Casualties

1 min read

Russian forces struck the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv on the night of October 12, destroying the entrance of a residential building and injuring seven people. Two of the wounded are in serious condition, according to the State Emergency Service (SES). Rescue operations were ongoing at the time of the initial report.

Attack hits residential area

The strike destroyed the entrance stairwell of a multi-story apartment block, forcing rescue teams to work through the night to account for all residents. Emergency services confirmed the seven casualties but noted the situation remained dynamic as search efforts continued.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and regional governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed the attack on social media and called on residents to remain in shelters. The Kholodnohirskyi district, in the central part of Kharkiv, has been among the most frequently targeted areas of the city since the start of the Russian full-scale invasion.

Ongoing threat to Ukraine's second city

Kharkiv, located approximately 30 kilometers from the Russian border, has endured near-daily Russian attacks throughout the war. The city's proximity to Russia makes early warning difficult and response times short, consistently testing the capacity of civil defense and emergency services.
