Russia's Total War Losses Exceed 1.5 Million Personnel

Ukraine's General Staff released its daily war losses update for September 9, 2026, reporting that Russia's total personnel losses have surpassed the 1.5 million mark, reaching 1,500,870 — an increase of 1,480 in the past 24 hours.

Equipment losses also continued to mount. Russia has lost 12,338 tanks (+6), 25,290 armored fighting vehicles (+5), 49,383 artillery systems (+42), 2,105 multiple rocket launch systems (+1), and 1,613 anti-aircraft warfare systems (+1). The tally of destroyed ground robots reached 2,534 (+1).

The figures represent Ukraine's official count of Russian military equipment and personnel destroyed or incapacitated since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. Western defense analysts generally consider the figures credible though independently unverifiable in real time.
