Six killed in Russian strikes on Sloviansk, bodies under rubble

1 min read

Russian air strikes and drone attacks on Sloviansk on October 17 killed six people and wounded another 15, and damaged more than 20 buildings, according to the head of the city military administration, Vadym Liakh, and the State Emergency Service.

Bodies still under rubble

The rescue service said one of the dead had been pulled from the rubble and described a strike in which three people died and two were wounded after Russian forces dropped four aerial bombs on the private sector. Fires broke out at three locations; rescuers contained them, but further firefighting had to be suspended because of the security situation.

Liakh said the enemy struck the city with different weapons throughout the day, and in some cases FPV drone strikes were also fatal. By morning, several bodies of residents remained under the wreckage of houses destroyed by aerial bombs; clearing work was halted overnight for safety reasons and resumed at first light. On Saturday he had reported one person killed and 10 wounded by a FAB-250 bomb hitting apartment blocks in a residential district. More in World.
