Trains in Sumy region cut short to Konotop after Russian rail attacks

📅 Sep 11, 2026⏱ 1 min read💬 0 comments

Due to intensive Russian attacks on railway infrastructure and rolling stock in Sumy region, Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) has temporarily shortened train routes so that they terminate at Konotop station, with buses ferrying passengers the remaining distance to Sumy city.

Ukrzaliznytsia stated: The Sumy Regional Military Administration together with the State Emergency Service found the possibility of helping with bus transfers between Sumy and Konotop. So rail connections to Sumy are maintained in multimodal form: train plus bus.

The railway company added that the situation was dynamic and being monitored continuously, with the intent to restore direct train service to Sumy as soon as conditions allowed.

Russia has repeatedly struck Ukrainian railway infrastructure throughout the war, aiming to disrupt logistics, military supply lines, and civilian transportation in the country.
