Trump Media Reports $238m Quarterly Loss as Crypto Holdings Fall

President Donald Trump's social media company, Trump Media and Technology Group, reported a net loss of $238 million (£176m) between April and June 2026, according to its latest earnings disclosure. The figure is more than ten times the loss posted in the same period a year earlier, driven largely by a fall in the value of the company's cryptocurrency holdings.

Revenue and Assets

Despite the steep losses, the group posted $1.7 million in revenue — up 89% from the same period a year before. The company closed the second quarter with total assets of $2 billion and financial assets of approximately $1.9 billion, including cash, short-term investments and digital currencies. The group's interim CEO Kevin McGurn said more than 10 customers have signed up for a new premium access service offering faster access to market-moving posts from the platform's most influential users.

Business Strategy

Analyst Markus Thielen of 10x Research told the BBC that Trump Media is effectively a crypto holdings firm "wrapped around" a media company, with the bulk of its losses coming from that strategy. The firm says it is refocusing on its social media mission and plans to monetise accelerated access to posts. The group has diversified into areas including cryptocurrency holdings and clean-energy investments but has yet to turn a profit since its 2022 launch of Truth Social.
