Trump Says Son Will Repay Russian Oligarch Who Funded Bahamas Wedding

President Donald Trump told reporters Friday that his son Donald Trump Jr. informed him he plans to repay Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev, who partially financed Trump Jr.'s wedding celebrations in the Bahamas in May. Trump said: when he asked his son about the Kremlev situation, the son replied he would pay the money back.

Wedding Controversy

Trump Jr. and his wife Bettina Anderson confirmed that Kremlev had partly funded their post-wedding party, describing it as an incredibly generous wedding gift from a dear friend. The celebrations financed by Kremlev took place after the main wedding ceremony. President Trump, who was not present at the wedding, said he was unfamiliar with Kremlev and called the scandal not a big deal.

Political Fallout

US Attorney General Todd Blanch indicated he would not open an investigation into the wedding financing by the Russian oligarch. Congressional Democrats pledged to conduct their own investigation into the matter.
