Two 14-Year-Old Boys Killed by Explosive Device in Sumy Region

1 min read

Two 14-year-old boys were killed in Konotop district, Sumy region, after they found and detonated an explosive device in a field, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Rescuers discovered the bodies of the two teenagers. The incident is a tragic reminder of the widespread contamination of Ukrainian territory with unexploded ordnance, particularly in regions close to active combat zones.

Sumy region borders Russia and has been subject to regular cross-border attacks throughout Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Residents, especially children, face constant danger from explosive devices left behind or dropped during military operations.
