Two Ex-FBI Officials Charged With False Statements in Hunter Biden Probe
Two former senior FBI officials have been charged in the United States with lying to congressional investigators about their role in investigations involving Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden. European Pravda reported the news, citing Bloomberg.
The two are Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides, who held senior positions in the FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force during the 2020 presidential election. According to a criminal complaint filed in Washington, they surrendered to authorities on arrest warrants after being charged under the federal false statements law over testimony given to investigators of the House Judiciary Committee in 2023.
The Hunter Biden cases
In winter 2024, then-former President Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter Biden, who had been convicted of crimes related to the use of firearms as well as tax violations. He faced three felony counts and six misdemeanors involving non-payment of taxes, tax evasion and filing false or fraudulent tax returns.
According to the indictment, Biden Jr. failed to pay $1.4 million in taxes over four years on income received from foreign companies. The tax case also included an episode in which he allegedly received money from a dubious Romanian businessman to lobby for his interests.
