Two men were killed on the evening of September 18, 2026, when a Russian drone struck the settlement of Tekstylne in the Kherson region. Kherson regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed the attack.

What happened

According to Prokudin, Russian forces attacked the settlement at approximately 18:00 local time. "The enemy's drone struck and killed two men," the governor wrote on social media. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene to assist and assess the damage.

Pattern of attacks on Kherson region

Kherson region has been a continuous target of Russian drone and artillery attacks since Ukrainian forces liberated the city of Kherson in November 2022. Russia controls the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, and from those positions it regularly strikes civilian settlements on the Ukrainian-controlled western side. Tekstylne is one of many villages in the region that face near-daily attacks.

Civilian toll

The Kherson region has suffered some of the highest civilian casualty rates in Ukraine, as Russian forces on the opposite bank can target the area with ease. Residents who remain in the area do so under constant threat of drone and artillery fire. International humanitarian organizations have documented hundreds of civilian deaths in the region since its liberation.
