Two Soldiers Detained Over Killing of Two Women in Vinnytsia

Police in Vinnytsia have detained two servicemen on suspicion of murdering two women on the evening of October 20.

“Police detained the suspects in the double murder of women in Vinnytsia in hot pursuit. Investigative actions are under way with the detainees, and all the details of the crime are being established,” the Vinnytsia regional police said.

What investigators say

The bodies of the 46-year-old owner of the apartment and her 47-year-old acquaintance, both with stab wounds to the neck and torso, were found in an apartment in a building on Oleksiy Berest Street. According to the investigation, the victims had been drinking alcohol in the company of two servicemen aged 30 and 38, one of whom had gone absent without leave from his unit. During a sudden conflict, the attackers inflicted fatal injuries on the women and fled.

Police said they identified the suspects in less than an hour and detained them in different parts of the city. The men are charged with premeditated murder of two people by a group of persons acting in conspiracy (parts 2, points 1 and 12 of Article 115 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code), which carries a sentence of up to life imprisonment.
