UK Probes Suspected Terror Plot Near US Air Base at Fairford, Trump Warns of Major Damage
British security services detained a number of suspects allegedly planning a terrorist attack against RAF Fairford, an air base in Gloucestershire regularly used by American military forces. UK authorities confirmed they were investigating a potential plot targeting the base.
US President Donald Trump said publicly that those detained had wanted to cause significant damage to the base. A possible link to Iran was raised but has not been officially confirmed by British or American authorities.
RAF Fairford has historically hosted US B-52 and B-2 strategic bombers during overseas deployments and is considered a strategically important facility for transatlantic military operations.
