Ukraine Air Defense Intercepts 112 of 165 Drones in Overnight Raid
Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 112 out of 165 drones launched by Russia during the night of September 28. The Russian military used Shahed kamikaze drones, Gerber and Parodia reconnaissance-strike UAVs in the massive aerial bombardment. Debris from intercepted drones fell in 14 locations across the country.
Despite the interceptions, several hits were recorded in Ukrainian cities. In Kyiv, a drone struck a fuel station in the Obolon district, causing damage and triggering emergency response. The capital's air raid warning lasted over nine hours before being lifted.
Kharkiv's Saltivka district suffered a direct hit on a residential building, injuring 22 people including eight children. Two floors of the building were destroyed. Ukrainian authorities continue to assess the full extent of damage from this large-scale drone barrage.
