Ukraine Approves New Railway Operation Rules During Air Alerts

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers approved new rules governing railway operations during air raid alerts, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi announced on September 17.

“Under a yellow threat level, trains run on schedule and passengers board and exit normally. Under a red threat level, passenger boarding and train departures are suspended; people go to shelters,” Koretskyi stated.

The prime minister added that Ukrzaliznytsia, together with regional administrations and communities, must expand access to shelters at railway stations. An automatic system for receiving threat level information will also be introduced. The railway operator will be able to quickly restrict movement and disperse rolling stock and passengers to avoid dangerous concentrations of people.
