Ukraine carried out a large-scale drone attack on the Russian border city of Belgorod overnight, killing five people and wounding 25, according to the regional crisis centre. Several residential blocks, an administrative building and commercial premises were damaged, with fires reported across the city some 30 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.

Russia Strikes Ukraine: Kharkiv and Odessa

Russia retaliated with strikes of its own. A drone attack on Kharkiv killed two people and injured 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. Eight people were also wounded in strikes on the port city of Odessa, where dock infrastructure was hit. Russian forces additionally targeted fuel storage at the port of Chornomorsk and two oil refineries in the north-eastern Sumy region.

Zelensky accused Russia of "waging war on global food security," given Odessa's role as Ukraine's largest agricultural export hub.

Ukraine Acquires US Weapons Via Turkey

In a significant defence development, Ukraine is purchasing a package of US-made weapons from Turkey worth approximately $283 million (€245 million) under a transfer approved by the Trump administration. The deal includes 70 ATACMS M39 ballistic missiles, 12 M270 multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS), over 2,500 artillery rockets and 47,000 cluster munition shells. The sale is considered approved unless the US Congress objects within 30 days.
