Ukraine and EU announce joint working group on justice reform and anti-corruption
European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced at the Brussels EU summit the establishment of a joint Ukraine-EU working group focused on justice sector reform and anti-corruption measures. The group will coordinate efforts to align Ukraine's judicial system with European standards as part of Ukraine's ongoing EU accession process.
The announcement follows criticism that Ukraine's anti-corruption reforms have stalled in several key areas. Kallas emphasized that judicial independence and the fight against corruption remain core conditions for Ukraine's EU membership bid. Ukrainian officials welcomed the initiative, describing it as a concrete step toward accelerating accession talks.
