Ukraine Sanctions 70 Russian Ballistic Missile Makers
President Volodymyr Zelensky signed into force a National Security and Defence Council decision imposing new sanctions on three categories of Russian entities involved in the war against Ukraine.
Ballistic Missile Producers
The first sanctions list targets 70 Russians involved in manufacturing the Iskander-M and Zirkon ballistic missiles, which Russia has used to carry out mass strikes against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. Those sanctioned include key employees of the Votkinsk plant, the Bakiiev Engineering Institute, Radar MMS, Granit-Electron, Anozit, Aviatek, Metafraks Kemikals, Altai, Nevinnomysky Azot, and several other facilities. All these enterprises are already under Ukrainian sanctions and partially under those of the US, EU, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Canada, and New Zealand.
Sanctions Evasion Networks
A second package covers 28 individuals and 27 legal entities operating cryptocurrency exchanges and exchange services that help Russia circumvent financial restrictions. Among them are operators linked to the A7 shadow banking network, which the United States had previously sanctioned separately.
Collaborators on Occupied Territories
The third decision targets 10 individuals, 21 legal entities, and two vessels acting in Russia's interests on temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. They are accused of financing the war, looting natural resources, spreading Russian propaganda, and providing internet, television, geological survey, electronics, and metal-production services on occupied land.
