Ukraine's Minister for Veterans Affairs Mykhailo Kim has drawn attention to the dramatic gap in state support for war veterans. According to Kim, Ukrainian veterans currently receive approximately 1,400 UAH (around $34) per year in direct state support, while American veterans receive more than $40,000 annually.
Kim emphasized that Ukraine has over a million veterans in need of psychological, medical, and social support, and called for substantially increased funding for veteran welfare programs. He acknowledged significant budgetary constraints due to ongoing wartime expenditures.
