Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), has extended his diplomatic mission in the Middle East to conduct further high-level meetings, according to Ukrainian officials.
The announcement follows a broader diplomatic tour by the Ukrainian delegation across the region. During a recent online press briefing, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Umerov remained in the Middle East following visits to several Arab nations.
"We were in Saudi Arabia, we were in the United Arab Emirates, we were also in Qatar, in Jordan and contacted other states," Zelenskyy stated. "Now the Secretary of the NSDC Rustem Umerov has stayed behind, we will have meetings with several more representatives."
The NSDC press service elaborated on the extension of Umerov's trip in a statement to Ukrainska Pravda. Acting on direct instructions from the Head of State, Umerov's primary objective is to solidify the outcomes of the recent diplomatic engagements.
Specifically, the Secretary is tasked with ensuring the practical execution of the agreements signed during the tour. This involves establishing robust and effective collaboration with Middle Eastern partners, particularly focusing on engagements at the level of relevant military and technical structures.
