In a sweeping overnight offensive on March 31, Russian forces launched a massive swarm of 289 strike drones against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the barrage included "Shahed," "Gerbera," and "Italmas" models, alongside various other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Approximately 200 of the deployed drones were identified as the Iranian-designed Shahed type.
According to preliminary data released as of 8:00 a.m. local time, Ukraine's multi-layered defense network successfully shot down or electronically suppressed 267 of the incoming drones. Despite the high interception rate, 20 strike UAVs managed to breach the defenses, resulting in confirmed hits across 11 different locations. Furthermore, falling debris from the destroyed drones impacted six additional sites.
