Ukrainian Blogger Shariy Investigated in Spain for Alleged Russian Intelligence Ties

Spanish authorities have opened an investigation into Anatoly Shariy, the controversial Ukrainian blogger and former politician who has been living in Spain, over suspected ties to Russian intelligence services, according to reports published on October 3.

Shariy built a large online following through his YouTube channel and social media platforms, where he was known for sharp criticism of Ukrainian authorities and pro-Russian commentary. Ukrainian authorities have accused him of conducting information warfare on behalf of Russia and working to destabilize Ukraine from abroad.

Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) had previously filed charges against Shariy, including treason and conducting activities against the interests of Ukraine. He denied all accusations and claimed the charges were politically motivated.
