Ukrainian Man Sought by Interpol at Uzbekistan's Request Arrested at Polish-German Border

1 min read
Polish border guards detained a 57-year-old Ukrainian citizen at the Słubice border bridge on the German-Polish border. The man was crossing into Poland when a database check revealed he was listed under an Interpol red notice issued at the request of Uzbek authorities. The arrest warrant was linked to theft charges reportedly committed in Uzbekistan. After detention, the man was handed over to police in Słubice for further processing. Interpol's red notice is an international alert for individuals wanted in connection with serious crimes or those convicted by a final verdict who may be outside the jurisdiction pursuing them. This is not the first time Polish authorities have detained Ukrainians based on international warrants. In February 2026, a Ukrainian wanted by Ukrainian intelligence services was arrested in Poland on charges related to unlawful misappropriation of valuable property. Earlier, in December 2025, another Ukrainian was detained in Warsaw with over 70 kilograms of drugs and falsified documents.
