US Resumes Intelligence Sharing With Ukraine, Zelensky Says

1 min read

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the United States is sharing intelligence with Ukraine again after it was blocked for “a certain period of time.” He made the remarks in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” as reported by Bloomberg and European Pravda.

Three days without data

“The American side unblocked it. We are very grateful for this. Now everything works,” Zelensky said. His office clarified that the block lasted three days. According to him, during that time Ukraine did not see Russia’s use of ballistic missiles: information from Ukrainian intelligence, from Europeans and from dozens of other countries was available, but only the United States has the unique intelligence needed to warn Ukraine when Russia launches ballistic missiles.

Zelensky also expressed hope that talks with the United States could take place this week.

Background

On 14 October Zelensky said the Trump administration had warned it could stop intelligence sharing if Ukraine did not halt strikes on Russian oil refineries. The same day, the European Commission said it had seen no signs that intelligence sharing between Ukraine and the US had stopped. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said that the Starshield satellite communications system is currently unavailable to Ukraine and that the issue is “being discussed now.”
