United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated that the ongoing conflict with Iran in the Middle East is nearing its conclusion. Speaking on the trajectory of the war, Rubio stated that Washington can now see the "finish line" of the hostilities.
"It's not today, it's not tomorrow, but it's coming," the Secretary of State assured, according to reports cited by Sky News.
Despite the ongoing military engagements, Rubio revealed that a back-channel exchange of messages is currently taking place between Washington and Tehran. He further acknowledged the distinct possibility of a "direct meeting at some point" between representatives of the two nations.
The diplomatic overtures coincide with significant military maneuvers. Media outlets have recently reported that the Pentagon is laying the groundwork for ground operations in Iran that could span several weeks. To bolster these efforts, hundreds of special operations forces have already been deployed to reinforce the American military presence across the Middle East.
Underscoring the gravity of the current situation, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth emphasized that the approaching days are expected to be "decisive" in the broader war against Iran.
