WHO Investigates Plague Outbreak After Multiple Deaths

1 min read

The World Health Organization (WHO) launched an urgent investigation into a plague outbreak after multiple deaths were recorded. Health officials urged countries in the affected region to increase disease surveillance and report any suspected cases immediately.

Plague, caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, can be transmitted by fleas from infected rodents to humans. While treatable with antibiotics, it can be fatal if not caught early.

The WHO said it was working with national health authorities to contain the outbreak and prevent further spread.
