Zelensky: Carpathian Region Can Become Energy Supplier for EU, Free Europe from Russian Energy

At the first Carpathian Economic Forum, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Carpathian region countries have significant potential for energy sector cooperation, and the Carpathians could become an electricity supplier to the EU, helping achieve energy independence from Russia. Zelensky's direct quote: "Solar and wind energy. Energy storage. New interconnectors. And our large underground gas storage. It is also proposed to create a Carpathian wind energy cluster with a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts. The Carpathians can become an energy supplier for the European Union, not just a transit region." The president emphasized that implementing such projects will contribute to achieving energy independence from Russia. The forum united Ukraine and the countries of the Carpathian Eight, presenting projects worth €42.5 billion in total.
