Zelensky: China Has Power to Push Russia to Talks But Chooses Not To

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview for Japan's NHK television, stated that China has the capacity to push Russia toward peace negotiations but has consistently chosen not to do so. He characterized Beijing's stance as political alignment with Moscow.

China's Technology Flows to Russia

Zelensky said he has personally seen North Korean-made rockets in Ukraine, but not Chinese ones. However, he stressed that Chinese technology and equipment are reaching Russia, likely together with specialists and know-how. "If you can, but you don't do it, is that support or not?" the president asked.

China's Potential Leverage

"China could find a way to push Putin toward negotiations. I am certain. But they have not done it," Zelensky said. He added that China is not neutral, calling it "a little more on Russia's side. A little, when it comes to such a great country, means a lot."
