Zelensky Declares Ukraine's Readiness for Easter and Energy Ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Kyiv is fully prepared to implement a ceasefire during the upcoming Easter holidays, as well as a broader truce concerning energy infrastructure.

Speaking directly to journalists, the Ukrainian leader outlined the nation's openness to various formulas for halting hostilities, provided they do not infringe upon Ukraine's independence. "We are ready for a ceasefire for the Easter holidays," Zelensky stated. He added that while those who truly value life advocate for a permanent end to war rather than a temporary pause, Ukraine remains open to compromises that do not sacrifice its dignity and sovereignty.

Comprehensive Halt to Strikes

Zelensky expanded on the scope of potential agreements, suggesting a comprehensive cessation of attacks on critical sectors. This would include an "energy ceasefire" and protections for food security, ensuring safety across both sea and airspace.

"We are ready to talk about any ceasefire... Completely—so that neither missiles nor drones fly. Not to hit infrastructure," the President emphasized. He noted that Kyiv has previously proposed these measures and remains receptive. "If the Russians are ready—please, we are ready. Let them propose any timeframe; we are ready to resolve this issue."

Dismissing Fears of Russian Regrouping

Addressing concerns that Moscow might exploit a brief Easter truce to fortify its military positions, Zelensky was dismissive of the potential risk. He expressed confidence that a pause of two to three days would not provide Russian forces with any strategic advantage.

Mocking the initial expectations of the Russian invasion, he concluded, "We remember what they promised in three days and what they couldn't do," a pointed reference to the early 2022 Russian propaganda claims that Kyiv would fall within 72 hours.
