Zelensky Signs Dismissal of Prosecutor General Kravchenko

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed Presidential Decree No. 932/2026, dismissing Ruslan Kravchenko from the position of Prosecutor General of Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada had voted to support the dismissal earlier in the day.

Background of the Dismissal

Kravchenko had submitted his resignation on September 7 against the backdrop of an investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) into alleged protection of call-centre fraud schemes.

The situation escalated on September 14, when Kravchenko publicly signed a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos, accusing the bureau of seizing materials from his office during the so-called Operation Carthage to impede legal proceedings against its own staff.

Travel and Deputy Acting Head

According to Ukrainska Pravda sources, Kravchenko left Ukraine overnight on September 13-14 in an official car. He later published a statement saying he had gone on a work trip to Paris for five days to attend Council of Europe hearings on Ukrainian children, though he did not appear on the official speakers' list for the event.

Deputy Prosecutor General Maxim Krym is now acting head of the Office. Investigative outlet Slidstvo.Info reported that Krym's wife and relatives hold Russian passports.
