Zelensky: No Meetings Yet on New Prosecutor General Candidate
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on September 25, 2026 that following the dismissal of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, he has not yet held any meetings regarding potential candidates for the position.
Zelensky made the comment during an online briefing with journalists when asked whether he plans to nominate Acting Prosecutor General Anton Kovalsky for the permanent role. The president declined to confirm any names at this stage.
Background
Ruslan Kravchenko was recently dismissed as Prosecutor General. The dismissal came amid controversy over his unauthorized foreign trip organized shortly before his removal. Ukraine's parliament — the Verkhovna Rada — must approve the new Prosecutor General nominee proposed by the president.
