During a diplomatic visit to Jordan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kyiv is prepared to assist the United States in its efforts to unblock the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to journalists via an online briefing on Monday, Zelensky highlighted Ukraine's successful track record in securing maritime trade routes in the Black Sea as a valuable asset amidst the current Middle Eastern energy crisis.

Sharing Maritime Expertise

Zelensky noted that the potential for Ukrainian support was a key topic of discussion during his tour of Middle Eastern countries. He emphasized that global partners recognize the strategic value of Ukraine's recent naval achievements.

“We raised this issue because it is painful and hot for the whole world, as there is an energy crisis. They know they can count on our expertise in this direction. We talked about it in detail, we shared the experience of the Black Sea corridor, how it functions,” the Ukrainian leader stated.

US-Led Efforts and G7 Conditions

While offering Kyiv's assistance, the President clarified that the primary responsibility for resolving the Strait of Hormuz situation currently lies with Washington, yet he reaffirmed Ukraine's steadfast commitment to its allies.

“Regarding Hormuz. In my opinion, the United States of America is dealing with this. We, of course, are always ready to help our partners,” Zelensky emphasized.

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains deeply tied to broader regional stability. Recently, G7 foreign ministers stipulated that any comprehensive maritime security mission in the strait would only be implemented on the condition that the ongoing war in the Middle East comes to an end.
