Zelensky on Russia-Ukraine War: 'No Win-Win Scenario — Too Many Have Died'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared in a CBS interview that there can be no win-win resolution to the war with Russia, emphasising that the sheer scale of human losses renders any mutually beneficial outcome impossible.

Zelensky’s Statement

“In this war there is no option for both sides to win. This cannot be because so many people have died. It stopped being a win-win situation on the very first day of this war. The most important victory for us is life, not war,” the Ukrainian president said.

What Ukraine Considers Victory

Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine defines victory as the full restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed that thousands of civilian and military lives lost cannot be compensated by any compromise that leaves Russia in control of occupied Ukrainian territory.

The statement comes amid ongoing diplomatic discussions about possible frameworks to end the conflict, with some international actors suggesting the need for compromise. Kyiv consistently rejects scenarios that involve territorial concessions to Russia.
