Zelensky: Putin Won't Use Nuclear Weapons Because He Would Lose Allies
President Volodymyr Zelensky believes Russia will not dare to use nuclear weapons, because it would lose all its allies and set a dangerous precedent for the use of such weapons in other conflicts. He said so in an interview with Steven Bartlett on “The Diary Of A CEO” podcast.
“Everyone thinks they (the Russians) can do something even worse. But I don’t think they will risk using nuclear weapons. Because then, I am convinced, they will not have a single ally left, including countries like America and China,” Zelensky said.
He noted that a single use of nuclear weapons would become a dangerous precedent for nuclear states in general and for other conflicts. “If one country can do it, then in the event of a conflict somewhere else — on another continent, I don’t know, for example in the Middle East — it means that if nuclear weapons were used once, they can be used a second or third time,” Zelensky said.
He repeated that he does not believe Putin will take such a step. “I don’t think Putin will risk nuclear weapons. But again, we are dealing with a person and a system that will hold on to him until the end of his days, and he will hold on to it, because only when his life ends will he leave the Kremlin and physically, naturally, hand over power. I am more than sure of that,” Zelensky concluded.
