Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced after an internal government meeting that mandatory asset declarations will be restored for law enforcement officers and Security Forces personnel not serving at the front. The measure is intended to allow genuine oversight of their financial status and lifestyle.

Zelensky's Statement

Speaking in his evening address, Zelensky stated: "I held a meeting today on further legislative steps. There are decisions that need to be made. There will be a decision that will restore asset declarations for law enforcement officers and Security Forces not at war, in a scope that will genuinely allow real control over their financial status and lifestyle."

PM Ordered to Audit Officials

The president additionally tasked Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky with reviewing all heads of central executive bodies, both formally appointed officials and those serving in an acting capacity.

Background

In August 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft law proposing to open the asset declarations of persons performing national security and defense tasks after martial law is lifted. The new initiative would go further, restoring the obligation for non-combat security personnel even before the war ends.
