Finucane's Fourth Gold, UK Rail Fires, Massive Attack Banned

Emma Finucane wrote herself into history at the Commonwealth Games, winning her fourth track cycling gold and leading Wales into the closing ceremony as the face of a landmark campaign. Her achievement gave Sunday its most talked-about sporting moment, but golf offered a close second: in Japan, Shiho Kuwaki needed two extra holes to see off Germany's Esther Henseleit and claim the Women's Open title, becoming the second consecutive Japanese golfer to win the prestigious tournament. Back in Britain, the day ended on a rougher note. Multiple fires broke out alongside the railway near Waltham Cross on Sunday evening, halting trains between London and Stansted Airport and leaving passengers on several routes stranded. The disruption came as Prime Minister Burnham renewed his pledge to fight small boat crossings of the Channel relentlessly, arguing that while enforcement has increased, Britain also needs more safe and legal routes for people trying to reach the UK. Further afield, British band Massive Attack found themselves banned from Singapore after shouting Free Palestine during a concert there. The group said they were surprised and disappointed by the decision, which cuts off one of their touring markets over a single on-stage chant.
