Kharkiv Hit as Russia Launches 165 Drones Overnight

Russia launched its heaviest overnight drone barrage in days, sending 165 drones across Ukraine; air defense units shot down 112 of them, but one that got through slammed into a residential building in Kharkiv, injuring 22 people, including eight children. The strike underscored how much of the war's toll now falls on civilians far from the front line. Moscow also escalated its campaign against Ukraine's drone units directly, placing a $20 million bounty on Robert Brovdi, the commander known as Madyar, who leads Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces -- a sign of how disruptive his units' strikes have become for Russian forces. Kyiv, meanwhile, reported a heavy toll on the other side too, saying 2,090 Russian troops were eliminated in a single day, pushing Russia's cumulative losses since the invasion past 1.53 million. Against that backdrop, a diplomatic rift opened with an unexpected partner: South Korea demanded an official apology from Ukraine after Kyiv disclosed information about captured North Korean soldiers without consulting Seoul first.
