Drones and glide bombs pound Ukraine as front holds
Russia kept up a heavy drone and bomb campaign against Ukraine through the day: 285 attack drones, 254 shot down by air defense, plus a ballistic missile and Banderol/Dan-T strikes in the east. Guided bombs hit Sumy, injuring six and damaging buildings in three spots, while a separate strike on the Kyiv region wounded a woman near Boryspil and damaged homes, cars and a school across five districts. The General Staff logged 173 clashes for the day, 27 around Pokrovsk, still the hottest sector. The violence spilled beyond the front too. In Odesa, a man deliberately rammed a military vehicle, then shot the 50-year-old soldier inside twice, killing him on the spot; he was arrested with the gun. Across the border, Moldova logged a third airspace violation in one day by an object from Ukraine's direction, after an earlier drone exploded on a utility pole and another forced a brief closure. Elsewhere, a truck driver caused a chain collision entering Tyachiv in Zakarpattia, killing a 55-year-old motorist and hospitalizing two more. In Europe, Serbia and Russia extended their discounted gas deal to year-end at 318 euros per 1,000 cubic meters, half the market price; a Czech court upheld freezing 61 Kremlin-linked properties, a Lithuanian court quashed a ribbon-display fine for lack of proof, and Germany's eastern commissioner warned old wage gaps persist amid a new eastern identity.
