Strikes Wound Civilians as Kyiv Clashes With Allies

Russian strikes wounded civilians on both ends of Ukraine Thursday evening. In Hostomel, outside Kyiv, a 66-year-old man and an 8-year-old girl were hurt as warehouses caught fire. Hours earlier in Dnipro, a strike set a residential tower ablaze, injuring three women and forcing rescuers to evacuate six more residents from upper floors. Against that backdrop, Ukraine sparred almost as much with allies as with Russia. Seoul demanded an apology from Kyiv after handing over two captured North Korean soldiers turned into a diplomatic row. Albania's PM Edi Rama accused the EU of lying to Kyiv about membership, saying Ukraine will never get in through the bloc's standard process. In Kazakhstan, police arrested Ukrainian Liubov Rozhanska in Astana at Russia's request; she had gone there only to collect a grandson brought from Russia, and Kyiv is pressing to stop her extradition. Moscow added its own pressure, putting former defense ministers Oleksiy Reznikov and Mykhailo Fedorov on an international wanted list, a step Kyiv calls meaningless. Separately, a Ukrainian wanted by Uzbekistan was detained entering Poland from Germany, prosecutors said the Jarosław monastery attack suspect remains too deep in psychosis to be charged, and Kyiv's presidential office still cannot say when a posthumous Hero of Ukraine award for journalist Viktoria Roshchyna, who died in Russian captivity, will be reviewed.
